I am back in beautiful Syros! Oh how I love this Greek island, although I am not loving the insane heat. It is nearly 40°C and we are all wilting… but nothing that a little swim off the harbour can’t resolve.

I thought this week I would do a ‘colour walk’ as I have talked about them quite a lot lately. You cannot fail to take beautiful photographs in Syros, with backdrops of stunning but crumbling neoclassical buildings in faded pastel hues, set against the elegant marble pavements.

I think this palette is the one that summarises Syros. Many of the buildings are painted sandy or peachy tones, with shutters in Aegean blue.

I love this beautiful palette as I am a sucker for teals combined with terracotta for an Autumnal feel.

I also noticed quite rich, almost Indian tones in my photographs.

Syros is also a cat lovers paradise. They are to be found loafing contentedly on every street corner and unlike many other parts of Greece, Syros cats are in good health and well fed by all the mad cat ladies and an amazing charity which I have linked to below. You can see feeding stations called ‘cat cafes' dotted about the island.

Below...just a few more of my many cat pics. Apologies to those of you who do not share my love of our feline friends!

Even my husband has been googling ‘real estate Syros’ for the past few days… maybe I will become one of the resident mad cat ladies?!
