The next event on the agenda was my favourite part of the weekend and quite blew me away. Everyone was asked to wear yellow and orange for the Pholoon Ki Haldi ceremony to symbolise warmth, joy and prosperity. All the guests gathered on the rooftop of the hotel around a pool filled with marigold petals, and yellow and gold decorations paper decorations billowed in the breeze above our heads as we looked across at the views of the Rajasthan hills.
Me in outfit 2 - yellow from head to foot. The bride's parents Vibha and Rajat Kerjwal
We gathered around to watch as the bride, sitting beneath a yellow canopy held above her head, had turmeric paste painted onto her cheeks and forehead by family members and friends. Turmeric is an important part of the Haldi ceremony as it symbolises happiness and prosperity.
There was yet more drumming (Indians do love a drum!) and girls dressed in traditional Rajasthani costumes twirled around and performed dances and acrobatic feats amongst us, with guests joining in merrily. We were all showered with marigold petals by the families, accompanied by the loud bangs of a canon shooting out yet more petals!
The buffet was incredible (again!) with a vast array of curries to choose from, plus hot freshly made roti breads with condiments. My favourite was the delicious dosas (Southern Indian pancakes filled with vegetables served with various relishes) I am drooling just remembering them.
I have always loved the rich yellow hue of turmeric and seeing hundreds of people dressed in warm spicy colours was so uplifting and joyful. Once again everyone's outfits were exquisite, mostly hand embroidered with intricate details. I rushed around madly asking if I could take everyone's photo and I think people were pleased to have their clothes appreciated.
You have to love a culture where the men are as exuberantly dressed as the women!

The grand finale consisted of the bride and groom being thrown into the (fortunately shallow!) pool and throwing water and petals over everyone.
