Photographs taken at dusk in the Kogelberg Nature Reserve in South Africa provided the inspiration for this romantic bed linen design. After a clear day the fog rolled in creating dramatic silhouettes of the native Fynbos over a backdrop of misty peach and coral skies.
Clarissa recreated the colour and softness of the light by hand-painting large swathes of dyes on watercolour paper. The greys and pinks bled into one another providing a smoky backdrop.
A design based on the silhouette of the Fynbos branches was exposed onto a screen and hand-printed onto the paper, once in slate grey and a second layer in plaster pink. The resulting artwork has been digitally printed onto 200 thread count cotton sateen for a lustrous finish. A linen cushion with a delicate metallic copper print of South African grasses blowing in the wind and a fine lace-knit wool throw add subtle textural accents to this beautiful design.
